Narrative Biography
I have drawn for as long as I can remember. I remember as a small child filling up countless spiral notebooks with my drawings. This passion for art continued into my adult life. My husband is constantly annoyed by my hoarding of art materials and the mess that comes with creating. I have a BFA from the University of Southern Mississippi and am continuing my education with a MFA from the University of Florida. I am not currently working. I have chosen to stay at home with my son and focus on him. When I return to work, my hope is to teach on post. With my husband being an officer in the army, military children have a special place in my heart and always will.

identity project.
each image in this collage represents something important that makes up "me" as a whole. i included an image of myself being baptized, an image of myself with my best "work" friend, there is an image of one of my favorite restaurants that i only get to eat at when i go back to Mississippi, my son's feet, a picture of me knitting a blanket for him before i even knew he was a boy, there is a picture with him wearing a "i heart mommy" onesie, i included the library art display from the school i taught at, an image from the day i graduated gsas (growing spouses army strong), there is an image of a quilt given to me at my baby shower, some of my most recent artwork, a picture of the inside of my bible, there are two images of myself on the day my husband got back from his last deployment, an image of me after a day of "mud ridding" (our favorite family activity!), the plaque i received when i had to leave my job teaching in texas. there is an image of my precious dog's urn as well as a very happy picture of her in a tube on the lake, and lastly there is a picture of me that makes me feel beautiful.
this group of images may seem random, but i assure you it is not. each image represents what has shaped me as an artist. i am a child of God, i am a wife to an officer in the army, i am a mother, i am a southern girl who loves to play in the dirt (even at 30), i am a grand daughter who desperately misses her grandmother in heaven, i am a teacher even if i am not currently in the classroom, and i am an always striving artist. these things make up who i am and therefore make up how i create. i am these images. i create because of what i am.
